Job title: Landscape Crew Leader

• Location: Snoqualmie Valley, WA

• $35-$50 hourly DOE

Job Description:​ 

     

     The Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of landscape construction projects and the landscape service maintenance schedule, leading a team of 1-4 crew members to complete work in a professional, detailed manner. Types of work may include installing hardscapes, drainage, lawns, shrubs and trees, lawn care, irrigation systems, fencing, decking, landscape design, and landscape service maintenance. Expected to complete jobs, fill out daily work logs, effectively communicate with the Supervisor daily about progress, and report any problems promptly. Ability to plan out project labor and materials, as well as make appropriate decisions in the field . Transport materials and equipment to and from job sites, vendors, and storage areas. Must provide own transportation and be able to transport tools and materials between jobs, including landscape trailers.

Duties and Expectations

Responsible for the safe use and repair of various tools and equipment including hand tools, power tools, lawnmowers, edgers, pruners, loppers,weed whackers, blowers, hedge trimmers, tillers, sod cutters, aerators, thatchers, chainsaws, plate compactors, concrete saws, and other landscape equipment.

Responsible for planning, executing, and completing landscape construction projects including but not limited to installation of pavers, retaining walls, rockeries, trees and shrubs, irrigation systems, lawn renovations, and drainage systems. Ability to read design plans and use various measuring instruments for setting elevation, grading, finding distance and other on-site measurements.

Must have a thorough understanding of basic irrigation system design principles including head placement, zone distribution, irrigation hydraulics, and PVC assembly, maintenance, and repair. Must be able to troubleshoot, repair, install new, adjust heads, program timers, understand wiring systems, test and repair valves, test for leaks, properly flush lines, and calculate zone pressures.

Oversee landscape service maintenance crews ensuring timely completion and excellent quality control of service rounds while keeping tools, equipment, and materials stocked and maintained. Communicate with customers regarding scheduling changes. Must have excellent customer service skills.

Experience with and knowledge of proper pruning technique and care guidelines for shrubs, trees, lawns and other plants that are commonly found in the PNW and Cascade Foothills. Must be able to identifiy common landscape plants. Has understanding of different types of fertilizer, calibration of application equipment, and proper application to lawns vs. planter beds.

Must be able to complete jobs with a high degree of excellence, providing clean, neat, and professional results with a keen eye for detail and excellent craftsmanship.

Must be able to effectively communicate with clients, vendors, crews, and management.

Required Availability

Monday through Friday 8AM-6PM (40hrs/week)

Qualifications

-Education in botany, horticulture, or agriculture is a plus, but not required.

-Two years of leadership or management experience required.

-Ability to speak English and Spanish is a plus.

-Must be able to work with hands, lift heavy objects (80-100 pounds).

-Must be able to work outside in the elements at all times of the year.

-Horticulture certification is a plus, but not required.

-Pesticide applicator license is a plus, but not required.

Wages and Benefits

-$35-$50/hour DOE

-Health Insurance to be determined

-Mileage between jobs reimbursed at Federal rate
